Filed under: Music + Musicians — admin @ 4:58 am

An alternative radio station once threatened with closure can, ironically, thank its brush with death for making a contribution to a resurgence in its fortunes. The radio channel broadcasts a selection of up and coming and niche acts which struggle to get playtime on the bigger commercial networks. A well publicised campaign to keep the station on air saw expansion in its average weekly audience to 1.2m in the quarter to the end of June. The free music station is now one of the better performing radio stations in the UK.

This represents a 17% increase on the prior quarter and an one hundred pc surge over the year. BBC Asian Network in the meantime, which still faces closure, raised its audience share by 22% year by year to reach 437k.

The newest RAJAR figures evealed radio had rose to its highest listening figures in more than ten years for the 3 months till the end of June. According to the new figures, released today, 46.8 million adults, or 90.6% of the UK population ( 15+ ), tuned in to their fave radio stations every week. Election coverage and the cup helped BBC Radio four, five Live and TalkSport to record audiences.

Ke$ha Accessorizing

Filed under: Music + Musicians — admin @ 4:28 am
Ke$ha showed up to Sunday’s MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto carrying a weird past-time horse-like object made out of a chunk of bamboo crowned with a skull and feathers. That must definitely be her thing – at an event not too far back she carried a mannequin’s head.
She’s not pretty, she has no talent she cannot battle with Woman Gaga…so she carries peculiar things to get attention? As tough as it is to believe, the pop star has been nominated for the “Best Female Artist ” award at the Teen Choice Awards. She is facing competition from Miley Cyrus (whose latest scantily-clad antics make her a lock for the win ), Taylor Swift, Shakira and Lady Gaga.
In the meantime , she’s fighting a $14 million suit from her previous bosses among claims she failed to laud a commission deal for helping her land a major recording contract. Unusual part is if you can land Ke$ha a major record deal then you might be able to make billions.
In another story, Ke$ha hits up the Horseshoe with Shad and The Arkells Ke$ha could have dubious tastes in fashion but she knows her after parties. Yesterday evening, the Horseshoe Bar hosted an exclusive, invite-only MMVA after party with The Arkells serving as the in-house band.
The Hamilton, Ont. Group doled out a few Motown covers like ‘My Girl’ to an insatiable ( and sweaty ) crowd before pulling out a roaring cover of The Beatles’ Twist and Roar . Brad Schwartz, the senior VP and general chief of the Much MTV group, was seen smiling all night as he danced and bobbed to the beat. Other notables in the gang were MTV’s Dan Levy and Shad, who later joined The Arkells on stage for 2 songs.

Information on Pipe Organs

Filed under: Being Creative, Making Merry: Entertainment, Music + Musicians — admin @ 3:47 pm

A pipe organ is a musical instrument that produces sound by air vibrations. The intricate design of the pipe organ allows it to produce sounds so complex that no other instrument comes near. Almost all pipe organ music has a pure melodic theme with dark overtones. The quality of organ music is flushed and woody. This mixed with the simple shape of the tonal pattern allows an dramatic tone. Organs are put in church buildings, temples, concert halls, and different public buildings and are utilized for performances of classical music, sacred music, and secular music. The thought of the pipe organ is that you push air through the pipage arrangement and presto! You created music! Thin pipes formulate the higher tones while the fatter pipes create lower notes.

Through the years the pipe organ improved, and had many assorted variations. Pipe organ music is really dependent on the pipe organ it is played on; if you use the incorrect pipe organ the music will be unique as each organ is different. will always be around to motivate individuals anywhere with its indisputable sound. Pan pipes are viewed as the root of the organ. Organ music is oftentimes played at funerals as a result of the deep tones the instrument creates. Pipe organs are usually seen in Christian churches, the notes of the organ add to the remarkable feel of a church.

The Boardwalk organ has 3 Guinness book world records! One for largest organ anywhere, another for largest instrument, and finally surprise! Its also the loudest. Regrettably it is not playable, the reason for this being fumbling workers and the harsh renovation process utilised when it was repaired.
As the need for pipe organs have grown through time, so has the way pipe organ builders adapt so they canbuild a pipe organ to service our needs.

Hip Hop’s Top 3 Producers Of All Time

Filed under: Music + Musicians — admin @ 10:51 am

In most realms of the entertainment industry a producer’s main job is to make sure the finish product is more or less polished and ready for the mass media. The music industry at a certain time was no different. Recently, the role of the producer has become a lot larger and in some regards has started to include some of the duties that were primarily relegated to other notable positions. Twenty years ago when an artist was about to start a recording project they would hire a producer who would then be in charge of booking studio time and finding the right songs and back up singers to fit this artist style. Their final duty was to pick which of the finished songs should make the artist’s album. Skip forward to present day hip hop and you’ll see that a producer in most cases is not only the song writer but in a lot of cases the recording engineer as well. They write and produce the song from its inception to its final cut. Hip Hop has coined the term “super producer” and any producer who makes it to this elite level makes no less then $50,000 for each song they sell. In most cases the producer is even more vital to the success of a song than the artist who is recording the song. Below is a list of the top 5 producers in hip hop.

Teddy Riley – When you single handedly create a new sound you have to be considered one of the all time greatest. In the late 80s Teddy Riley created a sound known as the “New Jack Swing” which had artist lining up to hire him for his services. He was responsible for creating hit songs for Bobby Brown, Guy and Black Street. Teddy Riley is universally regarded as the first super producer.

Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis – This duo is also known for a unique sound that they created in the early 80s! Creating hits for notable artists such as Janet Jackson, New Edition and Whitney Houston to name a few. The unique sound they developed while growing up along side Prince in Minneapolis Minnesota is credited for many of the hits in the 80s and 90s.

Dr. Dre – When it comes to the rap side of hip hop music there’s no debating the credentials of Dr. Dre. As one of the founding fathers of gangster rap in the early 90s this hip hop legend created a sound that to this day has never been duplicated. The fact that he charges $500,000 to $1,000,000 a song should say it all. I don’t think you can name any hip hop artist that hasn’t enlisted the services of Dr. Dre. Known as a perfectionist, there may be no other producer responsible for as many hit records as Dr. Dre. From his earlier accomplishments in hip hop during the 90s to his present discography which include Eminem and 50 cent, Dr, Dre clearly stands head and shoulders above all other hip hop producers.
