Addressing The Needs Of Home-Schooled Kids

Filed under: Better Tuition — admin @ 7:07 pm

There is a wide variation when it comes to the public opinion on homeschooling. Some are avid supports, while some do not find it in the best interest of children. And to weight out the pros and cons of homeschooling, a list of advantages and disadvantages of this alternative means of education is set up.

Either way, if it is really the best of the learners that is at their supporters and detractors hearts; why not consider what the learner really needs in order to achieve learning success whether in the public and private educational system or through homeschooling.

Taking the side of homeschooling, it is important to evaluate and identify the needs of the children, their interest, the learning methods that best stimulates their curiosity and inquisitiveness. This is the only key to a quality homeschool education – addressing what the homeschooled kid needs.

In homeschooling children, the instructors may be in the form of the parents or a tutor should be able to commit a time for learning. And homeschooling, with all the preparations, will really take up much time. A child will have to be given a strict time schedule for learning, and time for playing as well.

Homeschooled children are criticized to be less sociable individuals. Indeed, socialization is a major factor in developing the personality of a child. Having this in mind, instructors should give attention to the child getting together with other children apart from the home.

All children grow at their own pace. Let kids be kids. Understand that they are experiencing the world for the first time. Get involved and be interested in what interests the child. If it is in the arts and crafts field, then focus on that. Not only will it help the instructor foster rapport with the child, but this will also stimulate and motivate the child to learn new things. Give the child some room to grow and develop on his own with proper guidance.

The effort of homeschooling children will never be too much. It is constant striving to address the children’s needs and this will greatly vary as you go along. Children grow and develop, and sooner or later will be interested in new things. And when this time comes, the instructor should always be ready to cater to the children’s requirement for learning.

It doesn’t matter if you just want to explore home schooling possibilities or have made the decision and are looking for a guide to point you in the right direction, “The Parents Guide to Home Schooling” will provide you with the information you require. www.free-online-course.com/homeschool

What Is the Correct CD Rate?

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 2:53 pm

An interesting question to be sure. Naturally, when investing funds into Certificates of Deposit (CDs), you want to know how much you are going to earn. If you are receiving your funds monthly, then the APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is what you are interested in. If you are allowing the interest to compound, the APY (Annual Percentage Yield) is what is important to you. And what about the rate for zero-coupon or discounted CDs? Read on.

First, ask the bank or your broker what both rates are. Many banks will just post their APY. You might have seen some adds, such as “1-Year CD Rate @ 5.21% APY”. And you’re thinking, “WOW! I’m going to earn $5,210.” If I invest $100,000 and receive $434.17 a month. I can finally afford that Camry lease. Not so fast. If you are receiving the interest monthly, the monthly figure depends on the compounding of the bank. Let’s assume the bank compounds monthly; that makes the APR about 5.09%. Your overall earnings will be $5,090 and monthly that is $424.17 a month (better stick with the Corolla).

Now for the second scenario. You don’t need the income monthly so you can let your interest compound. This means that on a fixed frequency, the interest is added to your principal and also earns interest. As a result, after each compound, more money is earning interest. Bank A is offering a 1-Year CD rate of 5.10% APR and Bank B is offering a rate of 5.15% APR. Certainly you are going with Bank B, right? Not so fast. Bank A compounds daily and Bank B compounds semi-annually. This means that for Bank A, the daily interest earned is added to the principal and thus the interest is earning interest much more often. With semi-annual compounding, the interest is only added to the principal twice (every six-months). So what is the difference? The APY for Bank A is 5.232% and for Bank B it is 5.216%. You earn more on a compounding basis ($5232 vs. $5216) with Bank A. In addition, some banks don’t compound at all, especially when it comes to Jumbo CDs. If we use the same banks and Bank A compounds and Bank B doesn’t, the difference is even more significant ($5232 vs. $5150).

Finally, what is a zero-coupon or discounted CD? This is a CD where the principal is discounted and interest is paid at maturity. They are designed to mature at $100,000. For example, you invest $85,000 and when it matures, you receive $100,000; terms vary but for our example let’s use 42-months. That sounds real nice doesn’t it? After all, you’ll earn $15,000 (almost $5000 a year) and the CD was kept under the FDIC $100,000 insurance limits the whole time. But what is your rate? Make sure your broker or bank quotes you the Bond Equivalent Yield (BEY) and not the Average Rate of Return. The BEY takes into account the time-value of money, and gives you a rate that is based on the present value of your investment. The BEY calculation is very involved to do manually, but there is a simple calculation for the APY which will be a good check on what the broker is quoting you. The APY will be about 5 to 10 Basis Points (0.05% – 0.10%) higher than the BEY. For our example, if you were just quoted the Average Rate of Return, you would have been quoted 5.04%. Now for the APY calculation. The equation is (Future Value / Price) to the power of (365/# of Days until Maturity) – 1. This returns 4.747%. The BEY is about 4.69%. This means that an investment that cost you $85,000 and returns $100,000 in 42-months is worth a 4.69% today. Now you can compare apples to apples.

Here is an example with numbers. We already know that the zero is going to pay you $15,000 after 42-months. But, if you take the same $85,000 and invest into a CD with an APR of 4.985% and APY of 5.10% (CD compounds monthly) for 42-months you will earn $16,166.22. More importantly, much of the time the difference in the APY is even greater for similar terms. The morale of the story; know what your needs are and compare rates appropriately.

Celebrating Change

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 2:45 pm

Is change something to celebrate? Often times when we think of change, fear is our first emotion. Most people do not like to think of change, because it feels like something out of our control. When you think of change what feelings come to mind; fear, doubt, anxiety, terror, dread, the unknown, unexpected, anger? Or do you look at change with feelings of; excitement, enthusiasm, anticipation, hopefulness, eagerness or even joy?

You have probably heard the saying, “Change is the only constant in life.” Since change is constantly occurring, then we must learn how to accept it, and even learn to celebrate the changes.

Understanding change will be your first step to celebrating change. Change has several faces. One face is Reactionary Change. This is the type of change that occurs suddenly, and therefore we must react. An example of this type of change could be an accident, a death, a sudden loss of a job, illness or a divorce. The change requires us to react and realign our life.

Another face of change is Anticipatory Change. With this type of change you have advance warning, so you are able to anticipate the change. An example could be retirement, getting married, moving to a new city, or having a baby. This type of change allows us to plan for the effects on our life.

And then there is the face of the Unknown Feeling Change. With this type of change, you may not know exactly why you want a change, you just know you want something different. An example of this type of change maybe choosing a new place to live, trying a new route instead of the normal route, or trying something new at your favorite restaurant. This type of change allows you to explore choices and options.

The last face of change is Not Quite Right Change. With this type of change you feel that something is not quite right and that there could be something better. An example of this type of change may be deciding to redecorate the house, get a new car, or just make an improvement in your life. With this type of change you are seeking a change for the better.

As we come face to face with change we will realize the impact on our life. Regardless of your emotional state surrounding the change, there will be an effect on your life. You may feel a fundamental change, which truly changes who you are at your core, your essence. Or you may encounter a revelatory change, an epiphany that gives you that “a-ha” or “light bulb moment” type of change. Or you may experience a habitual change, where you change a habit.

With all change there is a process that occurs. The process doesn’t necessarily happen in a specific order, but as you progress through the change you will typically experience each aspect. First you will realize that the change is occurring, although this may take some time to recognize. Once you recognize the change is occurring, you will have to factually disengage from the past. To do this you will need to see what the current state is, see there is a new way and accept that change is occurring. The most difficult process in change is emotionally disengaging from the past. You may realize there is a change but may not be accepting the change, and be yearning for ‘how it used to be.’ If you can see the anticipated end you will begin to process through the change and be on your way to the learning curve. This is where the opportunity begins. With each change there is the opportunity to learn and grow. Once you are completely through the change and on the other side you will internalize the lesson, and therein lies the true blessing of change.

There is a goal oriented way of getting through the process of change which may help you move from fear of change to acceptance and celebration.

The steps are: 1. Identify and define the change. 2. Communicate the results of the change. 3. Recognize what is NOT changing. 4. Remember your own greatness, strengths and qualities. 5. Identify the positive feeling the change will bring. 6. Make a new plan around the change. 7. Find a support network.

If you focus on the positive aspects change can bring to your life, you may find the blessing and celebrate change. Even a difficult change offers us the opportunity to grow spiritually, and may open new paths that we could have never anticipated. Change is a blessing (sometimes in disguise.) Life is in a constant state of change. Learning to follow the steps outlined above will help make change easier and even enrich the process. The next time you face change, celebrate; a new you will be emerging!

Another Winner from BlackBerry – the Curve 8320

Filed under: Telecommunication Management — admin @ 3:15 am

Unfortunately for BlackBerry, the Curve 8320 has not been quite popular with the public, in spite of this it remains worth evaluating. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 is a good general purpose phone that would be suitable for a very broad range of users. Compared to other handsets for the price the Curve 8320 is quite fairly well featured.

If you want a really cheap deal, order online where it is simple to find loads of bargains to choose from. Find the latest deals try using a site to compare mobile phones to compare tariffs on the BlackBerry Curve 8320 .

The Curve 8320 weighs 111 g which is pretty average for a mobile handset in its price bracket. We found the Curve 8320 very small. If colour is something you are interested in you may like to know that this handset is available in, Titanium and Pale Gold. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 comes equipped with bluetooth, which means it can be used with with a number of accessories. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 has a battery duration of 408 hours standby charge and talk time of 4:00. A Standard battery, Li-Ion 1100 mAh, battery cell is that is fitted to the BlackBerry Curve 8320. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 supports 2G GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 . A 2 MP, 1600×1200 pixels, video, flash is integrated into this mobile phone camera. If you use the Internet on the move, you will be pleased to know a HTML, compatible browser is included. The display type is 65K colors. Polyphonic (32 channels), MP3 ring-tones are enabled on the BlackBerry Curve 8320 as well as a vibration alert . This phone also has a few extra features, for example:

  • Calculator
  • Voice dial
  • Built-in handsfree
  • To-Do list
  • BlackBerry maps
  • Java
  • Media player
  • Organizer
  • Unfortunately for BlackBerry the Curve 8320 has lots of competition meaning it is pretty easy to get a fantastic bargain on this handset.

How to Get Your Child’s Attention when They’re Engrossed in a Video Game

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 8:01 pm

Do you struggle to get your child’s attention when they’re playing a video game? Perhaps you have dinner on the table, and want the kids to come before everything gets cold. Your objective is clear, but your child is engrossed in a video game. Their eyes are focused on the TV screen. Their hand is on the joystick. They’re playing the game, and you’re being ignored. As a result, you feel frustrated, angry and stressed. What can you do to get your child’s attention?

Try the “Pause and Eyeball” technique. First, get control of the situation by asking the kids to pause. Tell your child, “Time out! Stop you’re doing and listen to me.”

Your child may be so engrossed in their computer game that they’re almost in a trance. Their eyes are glazed over, and they may not ever hear you. This causes your instructions to be ignored . To break the trance, clap your hands and tell them to time-out. You could also use a hand bell, horn or whistle. What you’re trying to do is break your child’s trance. Ask for your child’s focused attention: “All eyes on me. Eyeballs right here!”

Demand that your children look at you when you speak. Now you have their attention. Tell them that dinner is on the table, and they need to come now. If they groan and complain, continue to be firm. Stick to your guns. “You can play that game later. Dinner is ready and you’re coming to the table NOW.”

The “Pause and Eyeball” technique has been used in the military for years. Have you ever seen a drill sergeant addressing his troops? They are all standing at attention, and staring straight ahead. To break the trance and get everyone focused on his words, the sergeant yells, “break and look out!” This means that the troops must turn their head to look at the sergeant, so that their auditory as well as visual capacities are engaged. Now the sergeant has their focused attention.

Think of how this technique applies to your children. When your child is looking at you (visual) and listening (auditory,) then they’re more likely to obey your commands. Applying the “Pause and Eyeball” technique will capture your child’s attention and bring them to your focus. You’ll avoid the yelling, crying, screaming, arms-folded resistance, and refusing to cooperate. Remember that you’re the parent, and you’re in control. Now let’s all sit down and enjoy our dinner.

Deciding on the Very Best High Speed Internet Access Offer

Filed under: Telecommunication Management — admin @ 12:02 pm

When broadband users are looking at the broadband landscape browsers can often feel dazed. The broadband market is full with providers supplying lots of high speed broadband packages with different upload and download speeds and download limitations.

You may want to look up every single high speed internet supplier directly to learn what internet packages the corporation offer, download speeds they give and their contract terms. If you wish to absorb this info in one place broadband users may desire to see a high speed broadband comparison website.

If customers already have a high speed broadband service provider and wish to seek a cheaper organisation then not a thing should prohibit you from using another broadband firm, especially if a benefit is to be made. Internet comparison corporations will often be able to take internet users through the process and what steps may be taken.

When customers are seeking for the leading offer money may not be the main deciding factor. Tons of high speed internet access businesses will advertise a truly low entry package to tempt budding customers over to them. When high speed broadband packages are extraordinarily low in money please make sure you learn what internet speed the broadband service provider will provide, what download limits you will be provided with and also the terms and conditions of the contract. The download allocation is key as numerous companies can often charge broadband users per GB that internet users go over, so if your broadband package has an eight GB download limits and surfers download ten scary movies that month, you are more than likely to have downloaded 10 Gigabytes (i.e. one Gigabyte per movie) – which is 2GB’s beyond your download allocation, and that is two GB worth of internet downloads the organisation might charge over and above your monthly package charge. Get the cheapest Orange broadband deals available with Compare Broadband UK.

When looking at the hottest deal please of course check whether or not the provider will charge an admin fee and if there are any charges associated with being supplied a wireless internet router. All these additional costs can all mount up and broadband users will be left with little savings when compared to other broadband packages.

Thankfully, broadband provider comparison corporations might often flag up any additional costs and internet users can make an informed and unbiased decision.

Ebook Review: Selfscape – Success Through Balance by Sheryle Moon

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 5:22 pm

Do you recall those experiences when ’something’ just happens at the right time? You’re looking for a car parking space in the busiest shopping centre in town and one magically appears; you’re in a hurry and get all the green lights.

Many people refer to it as synchronicity … in tune with the Buddhist belief that, ‘when the student is ready, the Master appears’.

On such an occasion a colleague gave me a copy of Selfscape: Success through Balance. I had been unsettled for a long time, reflecting on my life and contemplating a change in direction … her timing was superb.

This small, but insightful book written by Sheryle moon talks about topics we all know deep down, but never do anything about eg, planning our lives.

Sheryle is an achiever; a mother, wife and managing director of a large corporation who won the prestigious “Telstra Women of the Year Award” several years ago. There’s a good chance she knows about success and a balanced life.

Sheryle details an holistic approach to planning across seven elements of our lives:

    1. career
    2. health
    3. personal environment
    4. recreation
    5. relationships
    6. self, and wealth

Instead of planning just our careers or perhaps for wealth, there is the realisation that we are complex and achieve synergy if we work with all elements. Now, within these elements are six integrated success strategies: personal capabilities and values, networking, vision, planning, balance, and commitment.

Working across the elements and strategies, we produce a global plan for several decades (if you have that many left!) which distils into yearly and daily plans. Our plans are changeable, the critical truth being that planning delivers a better life than drifting aimlessly hoping all will be fine. Somehow, when we plan, and especially when we document our plans, the increased consciousness of what we want summons some universal principle that helps us achieve them as though it’s impossible to do otherwise.

Sheryle says, ‘The planning strategy provides examples and templates to help you plan for each element and to put them together as a pathway for success throughout your life.’

This ebook is a must for anyone wanting the best life has to offer. Instead of planning just our careers or perhaps for wealth, there is the realisation that we are complex beings who achieve synergy if we work with all elements.

If you’re seeking a successful life (and aren’t we all?), Sheryle’s balanced life planning process is a step forward. And it’s never too late to get started and change your life for the better.

Relationship Advice: D is for Differences

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 8:52 am

I want to invite you to consider a very radical notion today. Here it is, are you ready? The very radical notion is that your partner in your love relationship is different from you.

Wow, that’s a devastating realization, it is not?

OK, I know this falls under the heading of “Well, duh!” but we sure do act like we do not believe it.

I sometimes think that the only problem with common sense is that it is not very common.

    Deadly differences

Some differences can be deadly to a relationship. If one person wants kids and the other person does not, this can be a deadly difference. You cannot compromise here because you cannot have half a kid.

Others times we can make a difference become deadly when we demand that the other person agree with us, think like us, or see the world the exact same way we do.

    Delightful differences

Stop and thing about it a moment. You picked the person you are with in a long term love relationship for many reasons. I would suggest that one of the reasons is that you delighted in the differences.

The problem comes when traits that made our mate great become traits that grate.

    What to do

There are two things you can continually do to delight in the differences:

    1) Complement each other – No, I do not mean “that is a nice shirt” or I like your new hair style.” What I do mean is that we can take our differences and create a powerful couple. There are things you are weak in where your partner is strong, and there are things in which your partner is weak in which you are strong.

    2) Celebrate the differences – Remember and cherish your first attractions to each other.

Cellulite – Natures Cruel Joke on Women Everywhere

Filed under: Marketing Tips — admin @ 5:17 pm

Cellulite is perhaps the number one, most problematic beauty issue facing women today. Cellulite is, as all women know, the term that describes fat deposits which are under the skin. These fatty deposits give the skin an orange-peel look, and are most often found in the buttocks, thighs, hips and underarm areas to name a few.

Your genetic make up is one of the predetermining causes of the appearance of cellulite; this is why even thin women develop this issue. There are other causes such as, pregnancy, ageing and the production of certain hormones. All of these factors may be credited for the deterioration of collagen fibers that lead to the appearance of cellulite.

Wherever there are women who worry about their appearance, there is an industry with the technology to help them fight the issues they are facing. Whether it be laugh lines, teeth whitening or cellulite there is help for all that ails women everywhere.

The most widely known treatment for cellulite is liposuction. This is a surgery procedure that utilized a vacuuming technique to rid the body of fatty tissues in the problem areas. The advantage to this is that there is minimal scarring, and it does an effective job removing the appearance of cellulite. However, there are some major disadvantages associated with liposuction. The procedure itself is expensive and can cause issues with the natural circulation and waste processes of the body during the healing process. Even these inconvenient might be worth it, if the cellulite problem was gone for good, but even liposuction cannot stop cellulite forever, it will come back.

For this reason, there are an amazing number of cellulite reduction products on the market today. They promise to reduce cellulite and remove inches from your body with continuous use. Fortunately, for the millions of users the claims of these cellulite treatment creams are basically correct. They will help remove inches as well as diminish the appearance of cellulite. However, the time needed to reach this desired result will depend upon the product being used. What doesn’t change, depending upon the type and brand of anti cellulite treatment used, is that the product only works for the duration of its use when you stop applying the product, it stops working.

So, as a woman today, you can rejoice in the fact that you have the power, the ability to, at least temporarily rid your body of the appearance of cellulite. You can also hope that the public view of beauty changes and that cellulite and wide hips comes back in fashion. Until then, get some cellulite reducing cream and be sure to use it every day.
